Most online business owners, and especially the ones I work with, want to grow their email lists. A bigger email list means that you have more people to market to, and more potential customers for you so it’s no secret that your email list is super powerful when it comes to growing and increasing your revenue. But how do you increase the number of people who sign up for your email list? That answer, my friend, lies in your lead magnet.
A lead magnet is something that draws your potential customer in. It can come in many forms - PDF, a download, an ebook, audio file, free call, just about anything you can give someone for free in return for their email address. And let’s face it, no one wants to give out their email addresses anymore without something valuable in return. This is where your lead magnet comes into play. Your lead magnet should solve a specific pain point your potential client is suffering from without solving the entire issue. Think about it this way...you want to solve about 10% of their problem with that first bit of content you send them when they give you their email address. Why only solve 10%? Because you want them coming back for more.

Pro-tip: Work backwards.
What service or product do you want to promote?
For myself, this I will use my Retainer package as an example. This package is a $1,000/month commitment and will provide my clients with just about any technical help in the back end of their business. This the package that my clients purchase when they are ready to launch their evergreen or time sensitive program.
Now think about an issue and potential client would have around this.
My client doesn’t know the first thing about doing a big launch. And truthfully, they are too strapped for time to really care about all the things they need to do to roll out a program, course or service. Their busy with home life, current clients or want more time to spend doing other income generating tasks.
Create a freebie that could help in a small capacity.
My launch plan freebie gives my potential client a nudge in the right direction without doing all the work for them. They will learn what kind of freebie or lead magnet they can use to promote their product, the pre-launch materials they need to have ready to go before the launch date, and shows them how to schedule this all out so it happens on time.
So, you can see while my freebie doesn’t solve all of their problems, it does tackle a small portion or at least get them started on the right track. Do you have a freebie?
